Its long-standing commitment to education and training in the performing arts has made ITI a unique partner to UNESCO in the field of arts education, with a distinctive mandate to advise this UN organization on matters ranging from the strengthening of education in this field to the role of theatre and the performing arts for social cohesion.

ITI experts were on the UNESCO advisory committee, convened to prepare the Second World Conference on Arts Education, held between 25-28 May 2010, in Seoul, Republic of Korea.
